On 23rd of September, 2023, Nanka Students Union ably led by Comr Ewezugachukwu Nwankwo paid a courtesy visit to High Chief Jacob Enemuo, Enyi Nanka. The president was accompanied by Umudala Village Coordinator, Comr Nkachukwu Ezeobi, Enugwu Nanka village Coordinator, Comr Precious Ugbor, who left after a short time due to another engagement and Agbanari Chinonso.

The Students Union Representatives thanked Enyi Nanka for the warm reception even though it was an emergency visit. He was presented an award of honor for having supported the Union in different capacities in the past and the most importantly, for having sponsored a good number of underprivileged students of Nanka. He was also informed by the Students Union Representatives on the loopholes in our community development especially in the aspect of youths and students development, thus the need for peace to be restored in Nanka community. Also, the Nanka Students Union Revival Magazine themed: Rebuilding the Home of Elites was presented to him by the President as a banner of peace raised by Nanka Students Union.

With joy, Enyi Nanka received the gift and the magazine. He appreciated the efforts of Nanka Students Union especially in their consciousness on community development. In his words, “I am happy that we have people who are ready to take over from us, the elders and people who knows the importance of peace and love in human community.” Enyi Nanka promised to contribute his quota to make sure that peace is restored in Nanka. He encouraged the students to always be open to truth and promise to host them anytime they are prepared.

As we continue to thank Prof Chike Nwankwo for sponsoring Nanka Students Union annual football competition for ten uninterrupted years, we note the miles already covered by his boy, Chief Barr Clifford Iloegbunam Okoye, Ezennia na Nanka. Barr Okoye took over the sponsorship of Nanka Students Union annual football competition from Prof Chike Nwankwo who sponsored the competition for ten years. Ichie Ezennia promised to give the competition a lifetime sponsorship.In addition, he raised the standard of the game by buying new jerseys for the competition. Also, he raised the prizes of the trophies, first, second and third to attractive amounts. With this development, Nanka Students Union Barr Okoye’s Football Competition is currently one of the most interesting competitions in Nanka.However, as if that is not enough, Barr Okoye went ahead to accept the sponsorship of Nanka Undergraduate Team of Nanka Students Union, registered to participate in Poly Emenike’s Nanka Champions league. This football team was fully registered ahead of 2022 competition and they left after the quarter finals of the year 2022 competition. Hopefully, they will go farer in this 2023 Nanka Champions League.We cease this opportunity to thank Chief Barr Clifford Okoye, Ezennia Nanka for his generosity towards Nanka Students Union. He has done a lot of other things to keep the Union in motion towards greatness. He has motivated a lot of our students through his closeness and usual support. We pray that greatness will continue to be his portion, Amen.

Nanka Students Union Igbo Debate Competition was an academic activity previously sponsored by Late Prof Bernice Ezeilo, the Pioneer Secretary of Nanka Students Union. The activity came to a purse after her demise. In the year 2022, Mr Obinna Ezeilo took over the sponsorship of the Igbo Debate Competition in Memory of his mother. Henceforth, Prof Bernice Ezeilo Memorial Igbo Debate Competition has become an annual event in the life of the Union. The leadership of Nanka Students Union is very grateful to Mr Obinna Ezeilo for all he has been doing for the Union. It must be noted that before now, Mr Obinna Ezeilo has been supporting the Union in different capacities. He was the one that designed the Union’s website which is functional till date. May God continue to bless and prosper him, Amen.
