The second edition of Prof. Bernice Ezeilo Igbo debate for Nanka undergraduates is scheduled to hold as follows

Date: Tuesday, August 16th, 2016
Venue: UMUDALA village hall
Time: 10am

Topic: Nsonye umunwayi na ndoro ndoro ochichi ala anyi, uru na oghom.

Prizes
First position N60,000 + trophy
Second. N40,000
Third. N20,000

The IGBO debate is open to all Nanka students in all tertiary institutions. It was initiated last year by Nanka students Union, and is proudly sponsored by Prof. Bernice Ezeilo, a founding member of otu suba kwa IGBO, a Professor, a nurse and clinical psychologist. This is borne out of her passion to promote asusu Igbo among Nanka undergraduates, and ndi Igbo in general.

Third: Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe.

To participate, send your names, school, village to 08034965858 through your chapter president. For schools where Nanka students Union is not functional, you are also free to participate.

Three speakers are to represent each school.

The 6th edition of Dr. Joe Akabuike Debate competition for Nanka students in secondary has been scheduled to hold as follows:

Great thanks to Dr. Joe Akabuike, who is currently the honourable commissioner for health, Anambra state for sponsoring this competition. This is the 6th edition………..He has also increased the prize money from N50,000 to N100,000.

August, 2016 will soon be here, it is a remarkable month for NANKA students Union as they look forward for several programs and activities which are entertaining, educative and above all impactful on the students…

We want to use this medium to appreciate all those who have stood by the union over the years, sponsoring these programs, and it our prayer that the good Lord will continue to bless you, even as you continue to encourage the students.

The following are the august annual programs of NANKA students Union and the sponsors and financial commitment involved.

1. Dr. Joe AKABUIKE Debate competition for secondary school students in NANKA.
Total prize money: N100,000(formerly N50,000 five years ago)

2. Engr. Berthrand Asibe Quiz competition for secondary school students in NANKA
Total prize money: N70,000(formerly N50,000)

3. Dr. Chike Nwankwo football competition for NANKA students in secondary schools
Total prize money: N50,000

4. Overall cup for the best performed village in the 3 competitions above

Total prize money: N50,000

5. Prof Bernice Ezeilo Igbo debate competition for NANKA undergraduates

Total prize money: N145,000

6. Pastor Ebele Nwosu for the university scholarship scheme that has 14 students on it. Valued at N150,000 each
Per session.
7. Special thanks also to Chief Jacob Enemuo, for his scholarship scheme also, for 8 indigent students valued at N250,000 per session

8. NANKA students Union is also grateful to Chief Agodi Sunday Ezeudembah for his community service scholarship, for NANKA students active executives valued at N50,000 each per tenure

The 500,000 teachers online registration scheme has commenced. Visit: www.npower.gov.ng and get busy!

Make sure you have the following before you commence the registration:

  1. A valid email address and Registered Phone Number
  2. Soft copies of your Passport, CV (in doc or PDF format) and Highest Certificate (eg. Degree, HND, NCE or ND)
  3. Bank Verification Number.

ND: The site is very slow, I will advise you register in an area with fast internet service (3G or 4G network preferably)

The Alumni of Nanka students Union will be inaugurated this December. Nanka students Union was formed in 1959. If you have held any position in the Union previously, please forward your name, photograph, the year and the position or office you held. Past members can also send their photographs to nankastudentsunion@yahoo.com, this is to enable us produce an almanac to commemorate this historic event.

Prof Casimir Akoh bags 2 awards

Casimir C. Akoh, a Distinguished Research Professor of Food Science and Technology in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, received two awards – a Fellow/WABAB Academician, with his election by the International Society of Biocatalysis and Biotechnology, and the Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Nigeria Alumni and Friends Association, USA.
